Juventus vs AC Milan Review
Federico Gatti netted a last-minute equalizer in the 92nd minute, helping Juventus secure a 1-1 draw against AC Milan at the Allianz Stadium and extending their unbeaten streak in Serie A head-to-head matches to seven games. Both sides appeared confident after winning their opening two games of the season, resulting in an exciting match. Kerim Alajbegović, making his first start for Juventus, fired a shot over the crossbar within two minutes.
Nicolás González, who was also included in the Juventus lineup after scoring in their 2-0 victory over Parma a week earlier, tested goalkeeper Mike Maignan with a powerful shot in the 12th minute. Juve came very close to taking the lead halfway through the first half when Francisco Conceição cut inside and forced Maignan into a diving save. Captain Manuel Locatelli tried to reach the rebound but couldn’t get enough contact on the ball. Maignan was clearly the busier goalkeeper, denying Conceição again seven minutes before halftime by parrying the winger’s half-volley after he slipped behind the defense.
On the other hand, Guglielmo Vicario didn’t have to make a single save before the break, as Milan failed to register any shots on target. A third consecutive goalless draw between the teams seemed likely, but Conceição nearly changed that 10 minutes after halftime when he sprinted forward and struck a shot that hit the base of the post. Milan’s manager Ruben Amorim made three substitutions at the hour mark, withdrawing summer signing Diego Moreira after an uninspiring debut, and bringing on Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Samuel Chukwueze, and Alphadjo Cisse.
Cisse, who had scored in Turin two weeks earlier to open the scoring on his Serie A debut during Rossoneri’s 2-1 win at Torino, repeated the feat in the 68th minute here by controlling Chukwueze’s crossfield pass inside the box and firing a low shot into the far corner. The 19-year-old’s goal marked the fact that four of Milan’s five Serie A goals this season have been scored between the 61st and 75th minutes, and it also ended the Rossoneri’s six-match goal drought against Juventus in Serie A.
Luciano Spalletti introduced striker Nick Woltemade for his debut as Juventus pushed for an equalizer, and the forward missed a chance by shooting over the bar when the ball fell loose inside the box six minutes before the end. It seemed Milan would hold on to secure their first league win over Juventus since May 2023, but substitute Gatti headed in a perfect cross from Teun Koopmeiners just four minutes after coming on, his second consecutive goal scored after the 90th minute, to earn a point for Juventus.
