Real Madrid vs RB Leipzig Review
Real Madrid comfortably secured a straightforward 4-1 win over RB Leipzig in the UEFA Champions League, maintaining their perfect home record this season with seven consecutive wins across all competitions. The match marked 100 days since Jose Mourinho’s return for his second tenure as manager, with the team eager to continue their strong home form and cause more difficulties for Leipzig on their European travels.

Fans hoping for an aggressive start might have been slightly disappointed by a cautious beginning, although Kylian Mbappe did have one notable chance, sending a cross-shot just wide. Leipzig, led by Martin Demichelis, looked for an opportunity to strike early, with Thibaut Courtois making an impressive one-handed save to block Romulo Cardoso’s left-footed shot. Vinicius Junior aimed to make the most of this European match since he was suspended from domestic games, making a powerful run down the left side before his shot was saved by Maarten Vandevoordt.

The home team appeared shaky in defense, with Courtois making a strong save to block Christopher Nkunku. However, it was Real Madrid who scored first in the 44th minute. Arda Guler connected with Federico Valverde’s pass and took a shot that awkwardly bounced away from Vandevoordt, allowing Bernardo Silva to tap in the rebound for his first goal with Los Blancos. This goal set the stage for Real’s second just seven minutes into the second half, as Guler lightly touched the ball to guide it over the line after Mbappe headed Jude Bellingham’s cross back across the goal.

Mbappe joked with Guler after the latter took his goal at the last moment, but the talented French forward later scored himself with a brilliant solo effort in the 83rd minute, curling the ball into the net from the edge of the box. Leipzig reduced the deficit two minutes later with a close-range goal from Tidiam Gomis, but ultimately, Yan Diomande, facing his former team, sealed the victory with a powerful right-footed volley.

This marked Real’s fourth consecutive win across all competitions, and they have now scored in 45 straight UEFA Champions League home games. On the other hand, Leipzig endured another tough away night, extending their winless streak to eight away UCL matches, including six consecutive losses.
