Nottingham Forest vs Arsenal Review
Arsenal have climbed back to second place in the Premier League standings after a 1-0 win at the City Ground, marking their ninth victory in the last 12 top-tier encounters between the two teams. The visitors dominated possession early, but Nottingham Forest made it challenging for them to break through, while Liam Delap posed a threat on the counterattack. In the 10th minute, Matz Sels saved a cross from Bukayo Saka, but Forest had the first shot of the match following an error by Riccardo Calafiori.

The ball remained in play after Calafiori managed to touch Daniel Munoz’s cross, and Dan Ndoye’s shot was then pushed wide by David Raya. Play was briefly paused so Murillo could receive treatment for a head injury, but he quickly returned to pressure Gabriel Magalhaes, whose instinctive backheel struck Ezri Konsa. The centre-back was then well-positioned to block Delap’s ambitious shot at the correct end. Kai Havertz headed a Declan Rice free-kick harmlessly wide and later shot into the side netting from a tight angle. Delap earned a free-kick near Arsenal’s box, but Bruno Guimaraes intercepted Neco Williams’ strike with his head. Moments before halftime, Murillo’s bicycle kick attempt was easily saved.

Mikel Arteta brought on Noni Madueke to inject energy after the break, but Forest had the first chance of the second half when Havertz handled a shot from James McAtee, who then fired the resulting free-kick over the bar. Delap had a shot deflected behind as he and the Tricky Trees continued to threaten, though Murillo’s header from the following corner was comfortably saved. Gabriel headed over shortly after Arteta made three substitutions seeking inspiration, and Jurrien Timber set up Declan Rice, who squandered the chance by shooting over the bar.

Arteta’s initial substitute proved decisive with 10 minutes left, as Madueke dribbled past Munoz and scored by shooting past Sels, aided by a deflection off Cunha. Rice blocked Chris Wood’s shot, Murillo narrowly missed the top corner after a skillful run, and Konsa made a crucial last-minute tackle to stop Delap. Arsenal managed to hold on, securing their third straight victory in all competitions and closing the gap to just three points behind Premier League leaders Manchester City. Meanwhile, Nottingham Forest ended the weekend in the relegation zone after suffering three consecutive defeats.
