PSG vs Barcelona Review
Paris Saint-Germain extended their unbeaten streak in the UEFA Champions League to 13 games with a 4-2 victory over Barcelona at the Parc des Princes. This win keeps them at the top of the group and hands Barcelona their first loss of the 2026/27 season. PSG started aggressively, pressing Barcelona from the very beginning. Within the first five minutes, Kvaratskhelia struck the post, and both Dembele and Doue had shots on target. In contrast, Barcelona appeared nervous with the ball, losing possession 15 times within the first 10 minutes. Before the halfway point of the first half, Dembele seemed to pull a hamstring during a driving run and had to be substituted by Ferran Torres.

Barcelona started creating opportunities, with Matvey Safonov making a crucial save to deny Raphinha from close range. The hosts executed a brilliant play that left Torres facing only Joan Garcia, but he mishit his shot, allowing the goalkeeper to block it. Garcia then stopped Torres again and also saved a shot from Fabian Ruiz, putting in a performance that was quickly becoming man-of-the-match worthy.

However, he was powerless to stop Doue’s powerful low shot just before halftime, as the French player tucked the ball into the bottom corner. Shortly after, Pedri set Fermin Lopez free, but Lopez failed to capitalize in a one-on-one situation with Safonov.

Although the visitors took control early in the second half, PSG came close to extending their lead on a quick counterattack, with Garcia once again making an outstanding save. Xavi Espart, making his Champions League debut, then took matters into his own hands by breaking past the PSG defense and calmly finishing past a stationary Safonov, silencing the home fans. Injuries to Kvaratskhelia and Marquinhos, along with a triple substitution by Barcelona, shifted the momentum firmly in favor of the visitors. With 20 minutes remaining, Torres struck the post from close range, but Lucas Hernandez headed in the corner that followed to give PSG the lead against the flow of the game.

Then, with 12 minutes left, Lamine Yamal outran Warren Zaire-Emery and cleverly toe-poked Barca’s second equalizer from a difficult angle. However, just two minutes later, Vitinha blasted in PSG’s third goal from the edge of the box. Fabian Ruiz’s late goal made it 4-2, effectively ending the contest and handing Barca their first defeat of the season. This result keeps PSG at the top of the Champions League standings with a perfect record, while Barca have now gone 18 Champions League matches without a clean sheet—an issue Hansi Flick must resolve if the Catalans want to be serious contenders for the title.
