Manchester City vs PSG Review
Paris Saint-Germain extended their unbeaten streak in the UEFA Champions League to 12 matches with a commanding 4-2 victory over Manchester City, marking their first-ever win at the Etihad Stadium. Manchester City, having won all six of their Premier League games and appearing unbeatable, were quickly brought back down to earth by the reigning European champions. From the start, PSG showed their strength, opening the scoring in spectacular fashion in the 13th minute with a brilliant passing sequence that took them from one end of the field to the other, finished off by Desire Doue from the edge of the box.

Doue played a key role again shortly after, delivering a precise cross to the far post, where the unmarked Ousmane Dembele headed the ball in to double PSG’s lead just two minutes later. Enzo Maresca’s team received an early warning that the match could slip away from them when Achraf Hakimi’s header was deflected against the base of the post. Unfortunately, they failed to take that warning seriously. The goalposts were still rattling when Vitinha scored another impressive goal from the edge of the box, finishing off a perfect setup from Warren Zaïre-Emery’s delicate flick.

City should have been four goals down by halftime when Hakimi weakly shot straight at Gianluigi Donnarumma. Their only real chance to salvage some pride came and went when Josko Gvardiol headed a corner wide five minutes before the break. In response, City made three substitutions at halftime, but it was two of their key players, Antoine Semenyo and Enzo Fernandez, who created a clear opportunity to narrow the deficit, though the small Argentine missed a header from six yards out at the far post.

Iliman Ndiaye, one of the substitutes brought on at halftime, made an impact eight minutes into the second half when his cross was flicked in by Erling Haaland, who became the club’s all-time leading scorer in the Champions League. However, hopes of a comeback were quickly dashed when a mistake by Donnarumma allowed PSG to restore their three-goal lead. Donnarumma accidentally palmed Maghnes Akliouche’s shot into the air and watched helplessly as the ball crossed the line.

City kept pushing forward, with Gvardiol, Fernandez, and Haaland all coming close to scoring a second goal. Haaland eventually doubled his tally for the night by finishing off Ayyoub Bouaddi’s cutback. PSG missed a key chance to ease the final moments when Ferran Torres missed a penalty in the last five minutes. However, this didn’t stop PSG from not only achieving their fifth consecutive competitive win but also ending City’s eight-game winning streak.
