Bayern Munich vs RB Leipzig Review
Bayern Munich rose to the top of the Bundesliga table after Luis Diaz’s brilliant hat-trick led the team to a commanding 6-1 win over RB Leipzig at the Allianz Arena. After experiencing their worst start to a Bundesliga season in four years with three wins and two draws, Bayern were eager to make a strong statement against a Leipzig team that had yet to earn a point on the road, having lost both away matches. The Bavarians offensive efforts paid off when Diaz sprinted onto Joshua Kimmich’s precise pass and confidently finished past Vandevoordt to open the scoring.
Diaz soon made another significant impact by setting up Aleksandar Pavlovic inside the box, who calmly scored near the near post. With a strong two-goal lead, Bayern almost increased their advantage before the 30-minute mark, as Ismael Saibari shot over from close range, and Michael Olise had a shot deflected onto the post by Vandevoordt. Undeterred, the French international scored Bayern’s third goal in the 34th minute, calmly finishing from 18 yards following a clever reverse pass from Harry Kane.
The break did little to slow the home team’s momentum, as Diaz scored his second goal of the night in the 47th minute with a curling shot into the bottom corner. Having scored five or more goals in each of their last three home league matches, the Bavarians extended that impressive streak, with Kane marking his 100th Bundesliga appearance by easily finishing from close range after Nathaniel Brown’s cutback. As the final half-hour approached, Vincent Kompany chose to rest Kane ahead of their upcoming UEFA Champions League match against Arsenal, but Bayern maintained strong control. Substitute Tom Bischof had a powerful shot saved by Vandevoordt.
The sixth goal came in the 69th minute when Diaz cut inside and delivered a brilliant finish into the far corner, completing his hat-trick. Olise and Bischof threatened to increase the score further in the final moments, but Leipzig managed a consolation goal through Andrija Maksimovic’s clever finish inside the box. Although Bayern lost their clean sheet, it was an impressive performance that saw them move above Dortmund and Freiburg at the top of the table, while also securing their fourth consecutive victory over Die Roten Bullen.
