Serie A Roundup, Matchday 4

The fourth round of the 2026/27 Serie A season showcased thrilling games, surprising results, and remarkable performances from many players. This Serie A roundup provides an overview of the fixtures held on that matchday.

Venezia 2-4 Fiorentina

Paolo Vanoli made his comeback as Fiorentina’s head coach with a 4-2 victory over Venezia. Franco Mastantuono’s hat-trick played a key role in securing La Viola’s first Serie A points of the season, lifting them off the bottom of the standings. This win also ended Fiorentina’s five-game losing streak in away Serie A matches against Venezia, leaving Venezia at the bottom of the table.

Genoa 1-1 Frosinone

Genoa snapped their five-game losing streak in Serie A by drawing 1-1 with Frosinone. The newly promoted visitors maintained their strong start to the season, even though they missed the opportunity to secure a third consecutive win. Frosinone managed to hold on for a point, extending their unbeaten run to four matches against Genoa, while Genoa continue to remain undefeated against I Canarini at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris.

Lazio 2-2 AC Milan

A thrilling quick double from Diego Moreira allowed AC Milan to come from behind and secure a 2-2 draw against Lazio, continuing the pattern of all of the Rossoneri’s Serie A goals this season being scored in the second half. Milan had to accept consecutive draws, which at least keeps their unbeaten streak intact this season. Meanwhile, Lazio’s perfect run ended, which sees them drop to fourth place.

Atalanta 1-2 Cagliari

Cagliari secured victories in their first two away matches of a Serie A season for only the third time ever by defeating Atalanta 2-1. This marked their first consecutive head-to-head wins since 2018. Atalanta’s attempt to earn a point was unsuccessful, as Cagliari maintained their lead to reach nine points after four games, a milestone they have only achieved twice before in their history.

Lecce 3-2 Monza

Lecce continued their unbeaten streak against Monza in Serie A (3 wins, 4 draws) by winning 3-2 at Stadio Via del Mare, with the first four goals scored before halftime. Lecce managed to regroup, maintain their lead, and move up to mid-table, having earned all six of their points so far against newly promoted teams.

Napoli 1-0 Bologna

Napoli snapped a streak of three consecutive losses with a close 1-0 Serie A win against Bologna at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona. The home team managed to maintain their lead comfortably, keeping coach Allegri undefeated against Bologna in his career (20 wins, 7 draws). On the other hand, his counterpart Domenico Tedesco, who was absent from the sidelines due to a touchline ban, is still awaiting his first league victory since taking charge in the summer.
