Lazio vs AC Milan Review
A thrilling quick double from Diego Moreira allowed AC Milan to come from behind and secure a 2-2 draw against Lazio, continuing the pattern of all of the Rossoneri’s Serie A goals this season being scored in the second half. Both teams started aggressively, with Samuel Chukwueze having a header saved and Tijjani Noslin’s first-time shot being blocked. Lazio took the lead in the 10th minute when Matteo Cancellieri sneaked in at the far post to finish off Mattia Zaccagni’s low cross.
Around the cooling break, Mike Maignan made a courageous rush to block Zaccagni’s attempt and then watched with relief as Davide Frattesi’s shot narrowly missed the target. Chukwueze attempted to create opportunities for Milan, delivering a precise cross that Strahinja Pavlović headed over the crossbar. Moments later, Lazio unexpectedly doubled their lead. Pervis Estupiñán initially deflected Kenneth Taylor’s low cross onto his own crossbar, and then Noslin managed to head the ball in while Koni De Winter was trying to clear it. As halftime approached, there was still some tension when Ruben Loftus-Cheek’s shot deflected off Zaccagni and went just wide, followed by Mario Gila’s effort from the resulting corner being saved.
Ruben Amorim responded with three substitutions before the second half, and his team started aggressively, posing a threat when Chukwueze’s shot was blocked by Oliver Provstgaard, who then headed a cross straight at goalkeeper Christos Mandas. Mandas made a strong save to deny Christian Pulisic’s low shot, but he was helpless when Moreira powerfully volleyed in a looping cross from substitute Pulisic in the 65th minute. Moments later, Moreira outdid himself again by connecting with Adrien Rabiot’s pass and smashing the ball into the bottom corner to equalize.
Zaccagni had a promising shot saved, and Alphadjo Cisse curled his attempt wide as both sides looked for a winning goal. Moreira then entered the penalty area once more but struck the side netting, and a daring shot from Omari Hutchinson was saved late in the game. As a result, Milan had to accept consecutive draws, which at least keeps their unbeaten streak intact this season. Meanwhile, Lazio’s perfect run ended, but they still hold the top spot in Serie A for the time being.
