Erling Haaland extended his remarkable goal-scoring streak by scoring both goals in Manchester City‘s 2-0 victory over Everton at the Etihad Stadium, pushing the home team’s unbeaten streak to eight matches in all competitions. David Moyes’ team started strongly, aiming to prevent the hosts from gaining any early control. Everton’s promising play should have been rewarded within the first 15 minutes, but Iliman Ndiaye’s well-placed pass was slightly too strong for Beto, who missed a clear chance at the back post.

Clear chances at goal were rare for City, with their two best opportunities in the half seeing Haaland’s header rebound off the crossbar, followed by Jérémy Doku’s curling shot from the left being saved by Jordan Pickford. On the other end, Gianluigi Donnarumma was called into action before halftime to block Ndiaye’s powerful shot, keeping the score level at the break and leaving the match evenly poised going into the second half.

Everton’s resilient defense maintained the draw, but just two minutes before the hour mark, the unstoppable Haaland broke through the visitors’ defense. The Norwegian shook off his marker inside the box and rose high to head in a cross from Nico O’Reilly, then doubled his personal tally five minutes later with a fierce low shot from Savinho’s cutback that slipped past Pickford. This extended Haaland’s incredible scoring streak to 23 goals in only 13 matches for club and country this season, and marked his sixth goal in five games against Everton.

That took the wind out of the visitors’ sails, as they experienced their first Premier League away loss by more than one goal since December. However, their defeat might have been much worse if not for several late saves by Pickford, who prevented Haaland from scoring a hat-trick. The visitors have not won at this venue since 2010, while City’s unbeaten head-to-head streak extended to 18 games with this win, which puts them in second place on the league table.
