Chelsea vs Barcelona Review
Chelsea delivered a brilliant attacking performance to secure a 3-0 UEFA Champions League win against a 10-man Barcelona at Stamford Bridge. This victory marked their largest-ever winning margin over the Catalan team and temporarily placed them within the top eight of the group stage standings. Early in the match, a Chelsea goal was disallowed for handball, adding to the already intense atmosphere at Stamford Bridge. Shortly after, Barcelona’s unmarked Ferran Torres failed to score from just 10 yards out.

As the game opened up, Chelsea looked more determined, while Barcelona posed a threat on counterattacks. Around the halfway point of the first half, Estévão delivered a whipped free-kick that Enzo Fernández headed in, but this goal was also ruled out, this time for offside. Chelsea then scored as a result of Marc Cucurella’s low cross, which created chaos, and when both Torres and Jules Koundé struggled to control their feet, the ball bounced over the line off Koundé’s boot. Barcelona pushed hard for the rest of the half, but thanks largely to Moisés Caicedo’s outstanding defensive work in midfield, Chelsea managed to keep them at bay fairly comfortably.

As halftime neared, Araújo’s reckless challenge on Cucurella earned him a second yellow card and a red. Within five minutes after the break, Andrey Santos thought he had scored Chelsea’s second goal, but it was disallowed because Garnacho was offside earlier in the play. By this point, the home team was controlling the game, and Estévão’s brilliant run and finish for Chelsea’s second goal was well deserved. In response, Marcus Rashford and Raphinha came on for Barcelona, but they had little impact on changing the flow of the game in their favor.

In contrast, Chelsea’s substitute Liam Delap sealed the match with a composed first goal in the Champions League. Making the most of his chance, he scored at the far post after receiving a cross from Fernández. Having lost only once in their last 10 head-to-head matches against Barcelona (with 3 wins and 6 draws), Chelsea will view this as a significant achievement. This result also extends Chelsea’s unbeaten streak to six games overall, while leaving Barcelona potentially facing a Champions League playoff spot to advance to the knockout stages.
