Arsenal boosted their Premier League title campaign with a 3-2 win over Bournemouth, marking their fifth consecutive league victory. With Arsenal playing before Manchester City this weekend, they had a prime opportunity to extend their lead at the top of the table. However, that urgency seemed to escape Gabriel Magalhães, whose disastrous pass near his own penalty area was intercepted by Evanilson, who easily scored into an open goal. Nevertheless, Gabriel quickly made up for it by being in the right place at the far post to powerfully finish into the net after Gabriel Martinelli’s initial shot was blocked on the line.

After the goal, many might have expected Arsenal to take control of the game, but it was actually Bournemouth who were doing most of the hard work. Justin Kluivert’s 30-yard free-kick narrowly missed the target, and there were continuous attempts from players like Evanilson and Marcus Tavernier pressing towards David Raya’s goal. Arsenal were unusually ineffective in front of goal during the first half, creating very little after equalizing. Despite their struggles in the first half, the Gunners quickly made their presence felt in the second half. Within 10 minutes, Arsenal took the lead for the first time, as a quick move ended with Martin Ødegaard setting up Declan Rice to score from the edge of the box.

A triple substitution by Arsenal just over 20 minutes before the end immediately paid off, with Bukayo Saka breaking through and passing back for Rice to score his second goal of the night. Eli Junior Kroupi scored from a shot from the edge of the box to reduce the deficit as the game neared its end.

The Cherries continued to press and search for a goal in the final moments, but they couldn’t overcome a resilient Arsenal team, who were motivated by the prospect of extending their lead at the top of the Premier League to six points. Meanwhile, Bournemouth’s winless streak has reached 11 games, as their troubling decline down the standings persists.
