Ligue 1 Roundup, Matchday 34
The 17th round of the 2025/26 Ligue 1 season has just finished, featuring exciting matches and outstanding displays. Here is an overview of the most recent Ligue 1 games.
Brest 1-1 Angers
Brest ended the 2025/26 Ligue 1 season in 12th place, three spots lower than their position last year, after a 1-1 draw with 13th-placed Angers SCO at Stade Francis-Le Blé. Both teams concluded their seasons quietly, with their mid-table standings just three points apart.
Lille 0-2 Auxerre
AJ Auxerre’s 2-0 win against LOSC Lille ensured they stayed in the top division, while Lille still qualified for the UEFA Champions League. Although Lille’s 13-game unbeaten streak ended, losses by Lyon and Rennes mean their return to Europe’s top competition is more than just a consolation. Additionally, Auxerre’s third consecutive win, something they hadn’t done before this season, guarantees they will compete in Ligue 1 for a third straight season in 2026/27.

Lorient 0-2 Le Havre
Le Havre AC ensured their place in Ligue 1 for another season, thanks to an impressive display by Sofiane Boufal that helped them break an 11-game winless streak with a 2-0 victory at Lorient. The three points secured the necessary result for Le Havre and also ended their 11-game winless streak on the road. On the other hand, Lorient had little at stake in this match, although they could still drop out of the top half of the table depending on the final result of the postponed game between Toulouse and Nantes.
Lyon 0-4 Lens
Lens concluded their outstanding Ligue 1 season with a convincing 4-0 victory against Olympique Lyonnais at the Groupama Stadium, breaking a streak of five consecutive away league matches without a win (3 draws, 2 losses).

Marseille 3-1 Rennes
Marseille clinched fifth place and qualified for the UEFA Europa League by convincingly defeating Rennes 3-1 at home on the last day of the Ligue 1 season, resulting in Rennes falling into a UEFA Europa League qualification position based on goal difference.

OGC Nice 0-0 Metz
Nice’s position in the top division is still at risk after a 0-0 draw with Metz, which has stretched their winless streak in the league to eight matches and placed them in the Ligue 1 relegation/promotion playoff. This result guarantees that Nice will finish 16th in the standings, requiring them to defeat Saint-Étienne over two legs to continue their 24-year run in Ligue 1. On the other hand, Benoît Tavenot’s team displayed commendable determination in their final top-flight game before they return to Ligue 2 next season.
Paris FC 2-1 PSG
Alimami Gory netted two late goals, including a stoppage-time winner, to secure a 2-1 comeback victory for Paris FC against Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain. This last-minute win caps off an impressive first season back in Ligue 1 for the home team after a 46-year absence, achieving their highest-ever finish in 11th place. Meanwhile, PSG must recover quickly ahead of the Champions League final after their eight-game unbeaten streak on the road across all competitions was dramatically ended.

Strasbourg 5-4 Monaco
Strasbourg made an incredible comeback, overturning a 4-1 deficit to secure a 5-4 victory over AS Monaco at Stade de la Meinau, breaking a streak of four consecutive home defeats. Monaco finished the season in seventh place in the Ligue 1 standings, with Strasbourg just one point behind in eighth. Nevertheless, Sébastien Pocognoli’s squad has earned qualification for the 2026/27 UEFA Conference League (UECL).
