Matchday 9 of the 2025/26 Serie A season featured exciting matches, unexpected outcomes, and outstanding displays from numerous players. This Serie A roundup provides an overview of the games from this round.

Lecce 0-1 Napoli

Napoli maintain their spot at the top of the Serie A standings thanks to Frank Anguissa’s second-half header that secured a tight 1-0 win over Lecce. This result extended Lecce’s poor home form to just one league victory in their last 15 games (5 draws, 9 losses). Despite having significant possession in the attacking third, the visitors’ defense remained solid under pressure, earning their sixth consecutive away win against this opponent.

Atalanta 1-1 AC Milan

Atalanta extended their unbeaten run in Serie A to nine games (2 wins, 7 draws) by drawing 1-1 with AC Milan, marking their fifth consecutive draw in the league. Ivan Juric has still not secured a win against Allegri after 10 encounters (4 draws, 6 losses), and notably, his team has managed only three victories in their last 16 home league matches, highlighting an unusual beginning to the season.

Juventus 3-1 Udinese

Following three consecutive losses and an eight-game streak without a win, Juventus regained their winning form by defeating Udinese 3-1 in interim coach Massimo Brambilla’s debut match. This victory was significant for Juventus, as it firmly placed them back in contention for European qualification after Yıldız scored a late penalty to secure the third goal.

Como 3-1 Verona

Como climbed into the top five of Serie A after beating struggling Hellas Verona 3-1 at the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia, keeping the Lariani unbeaten in eight matches (4 wins, 4 draws) across all competitions. Another undefeated home performance for Como in 2025 (5 wins, 2 draws) moves Fàbregas’ team up to fifth place in the Serie A standings. Meanwhile, Verona’s search for their first win of the season goes on (5 draws, 4 losses), as they have not won a top-flight head-to-head match since December 1986.

AS Roma 2-1 Parma

AS Roma closed the gap to league leaders Napoli by beating Parma 2-1 at the Stadio Olimpico. This result leaves Parma with only one win in their last nine Serie A games (4 draws, 4 losses). Despite Parma’s efforts, Roma held on to secure just their second victory in six home matches across all competitions, staying second in the league table and matching Napoli’s points total once again. Meanwhile, Parma remains the only Serie A team yet to score an away goal this season and has managed just two league wins since November 2020 (16 draws, 20 losses).

Inter 3-0 Fiorentina

Inter Milan got back to winning and moved into the top four of Serie A with a strong 3-0 victory against Fiorentina at the Giuseppe Meazza. This marked their third straight home win against a team that is still searching for its first league win this season. After finishing in European qualification spots for the past four seasons, things are becoming concerning for Stefano Pioli’s Fiorentina, who have now had their worst start to a Serie A season ever.

Genoa 0-2 Cremonese

Genoa’s disastrous start to the season persisted as they remain without a Serie A win after nine games (3 draws, 6 losses), following a 2-0 loss to Cremonese. Genoa continue to occupy the bottom of the Serie A standings after a terrible first nine matches, making them one of four teams still yet to secure a full three points this season.

Bologna 0-0 Torino

Bologna’s perfect home record in Serie A this season came to an end as they were unable to overcome a resilient Torino team, resulting in a 0-0 draw at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara. It was a frustrating evening for the hosts, who are now positioned sixth, while the valuable point earned by Torino puts them in 13th place.

Cagliari 1-2 Sassuolo

Sassuolo narrowly defeated Cagliari in an exciting second half at the Unipol Domus, securing their first Serie A away win against this opponent since September 2017 and moving the Neroverdi into the upper half of the league table. Sassuolo effectively shut down the home team’s offensive efforts in the closing moments to claim their third victory in five games (one draw, one loss). Meanwhile, Fabio Pisacane will be disappointed as his team’s winless streak has now reached five matches (two draws, three losses).

Pisa 0-0 Lazio

Pisa are still seeking their first Serie A win in over 34 years after the Nerazzurri played a 0-0 draw against Lazio at the Arena Garibaldi. However, this result does allow Alberto Gilardino’s team to climb out of the relegation zone. Concerns are growing over the Pisa’s lack of scoring, having only scored five goals in their first nine league matches of the season. Meanwhile, Lazio’s away point moves the Aquile up two spots to 11th place and extends their unbeaten streak to five games.
