Tottenham Issues Statement After Aaron Ramsdale Attack

After a fan kicked Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale at the conclusion of the north London derby, Tottenham Hotspur issued a statement vowing to take “the strongest possible action.”

Sunday’s 2-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur was secured by goals from Martin Odegaard in the first half and an unfortunate own goal from Hugo Lloris.

After the game, Ramsdale was seen kissing the Arsenal badge when things took a somewhat unpleasant turn as substitute Richarlison confronted him. A group of irate Tottenham fans confronted the Gunners’ starting goalkeeper as he went to get his water bottle and towel from behind the goal. One of them jumped onto the advertising boarding and kicked Ramsdale.

Tottenham posted a statement on the event on the club website: “We are appalled by the behaviour of a supporter that attempted to attack Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale at the end of today’s match. Violence in any form has no place in football.

“The Club has reviewed its CCTV footage to identify the supporter and will be working with the Met Police, Arsenal and Aaron Ramsdale to take the strongest possible action, including an immediate ban from Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.”
