Todd Boehly discusses his ownership ethos after possibly taking over Chelsea
Todd Boehly, whose syndicate was named the ‘preferred bidder’ for Chelsea last week, spoke about his ownership ideology at a conference in Los Angeles. Todd Boehly is already a part-owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers and just bought an interest in the Los Angeles Lakers. Despite late competition from British petrochemicals mogul Sir Jim Ratcliffe, he leads a bid that includes Swiss billionaire Hansjorg Wyss and is projected to be victorious.
The American acquired his money in banking and has talked publicly about the need of assuring affordability for fans in order to fill stadiums, using Dodger Stadium as an example. He also proposed seeking major companies, which might represent a significant cash stream for Chelsea.
“Sports spark passion like nothing else.” And if you have passion, you’ll attract individuals who are interested in what you’re doing. And you have a fantastic potential if you have individuals who care about things. “It’s all about curating that experience, that access, that opportunity,” Boehly explained.

“We’ll have four million people coming out to Dodger Stadium this year. So, our goal is to give them the best possible experience. We still have the most affordable tickets in the league basically, for a stadium that’s full regularly,” he added.
“When you think about how we think about price points and how we think about sports, we simply assume they’re not going to make any more, so scarcity value is implied.” We’ve been concentrating just on the most well-known companies. They split all of the media money in some sports, such as the NFL. You’re actually a derivative of your local market in baseball.” The Premier League follows a similar pattern. When you consider how things function, being a huge brand gives you a structural advantage. We, on the other hand, are continuously on the lookout for structural benefits.”
