Todd Boehly is prepared to back Thomas Tuchel to bolster his squad this summer

Incoming owner Todd Boehly is willing to support Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel with a £200 million transfer budget this summer to bolster his squad.

The Premier League and the UK government have both authorized Roman Abramovich’s sale, so it’s only a matter of time before Boehly’s takeover is fully finalized and Chelsea can start arranging their summer transfers.

Boehly plans to spend heavily to reduce the gap on Manchester City and Liverpool, according to The Telegraph, with £200 million going to Tuchel for squad reinforcements. Chelsea has to reinforce in a number of positions this summer, according to the German, with the centre-back position being one of the most bothersome.

Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen are on their way out, and Cesar Azpilicueta may be next, implying that at least one new signing is on the way. Jules Kounde of Sevilla is at the top of the list, while Josko Gvardiol of RB Leipzig is also being considered.

After a spectacular breakout season on loan with Huddersfield Town in the Championship, the Blues intend to give Levi Colwill a fair chance to show himself in pre-season. Tuchel is also looking for midfield reinforcements, but his pursuit of Monaco’s Aurelien Tchouameni, who has his heart set on a move to Real Madrid this summer, appears to be doomed.

Declan Rice of West Ham is another high-profile target, but the England international will cost at least half of the £200 million budget, and the Hammers are hoping to lock him down with a new deal that contains a release clause.

Finally, Chelsea hopes to boost their attack while also saving money by acquiring Ousmane Dembele, who has yet to sign a contract extension with Barcelona and might depart on a free transfer.
