Nottingham Forest vs Manchester United Review
Nottingham Forest extended their Premier League winless streak to nine matches since the first weekend after drawing 2-2 with Manchester United. Manchester United, one of three teams to win all their Premier League games in October, started strongly. Benjamin Šeško had two good opportunities in the first 15 minutes at the City Ground but missed both times. Nottingham Forest, who rarely threatened Manchester United’s goalkeeper Senne Lammens, also had to deal with Douglas Luiz leaving early due to a muscle injury.

As the first half progressed, Elliot Anderson’s impact became more evident, but Šeško again had the best chances to score, failing to control through balls from Bryan Mbeumo and Luke Shaw. Matz Sels made a flying save to deny Amad Diallo after a well-executed United attack, and shortly after, a controversially awarded corner allowed Casemiro to rise highest and power in a deserved opening goal. As halftime approached, Callum Hudson-Odoi’s speculative long-range shot summed up Forest’s first half, with Shaw and Matthijs de Ligt notably having a busy but excellent defensive performance.

Early in the second half, Forest’s sustained pressure paid off as they scored twice within 92 seconds, completely turning the match around. First, Morgan Gibbs-White met Ryan Yates’ cross and headed the ball over Lammens, then poor marking from a cross allowed Nicolò Savona to sneak in and score a second, sending the home fans into a frenzy. Ruben Amorim’s team pushed for a comeback, with captain Bruno Fernandes seeing his shot rebound off the post.

Forest was gaining the upper hand as the match entered its final stages, and Hudson-Odoi came very close to scoring their third goal following a strong run and shot. The home team then defended their lead, but this strategy backfired when they failed to clear a corner, allowing Amad to volley in with his left foot and level the score for United. Both teams had opportunities to secure a win in the closing moments, with the visitors nearly succeeding when Murillo blocked Amad’s shot on the goal line. As a result, United were unable to achieve consecutive away wins for the first time this season, having won only one of their last ten Premier League matches away from Old Trafford.
