Match referees should be suited with microphones, says Marseille and Lyon presidents

During post-match interviews with Prime Video, Lyon President Jean-Michel Aulas and Marseille President Pablo Longoria both voiced their willingness for the move when asked about fitting referees with microphones.

Longoria bemoaned the decision to allow Castello Lukeba’s goal after Moussa Dembélé had stepped on Pau López’s hand, while Dembélé may have also surrendered a penalty in the first half when the ball struck his arm but was not assessed to have committed a foul.

Pablo Longoria, Marseille president said, “I am in favour of fitting referees with a microphone, absolutely, because it gives more clarity. At the moment, I don’t understand the handball rule.”

Aulas Lyon president agreed with his counterpart Longoria: “It’s vital (to mic referees up). We’ve said it multiple times. We have to start by fitting referees with a sound system and we also need VAR to intervene a lot quicker.”
