Chelsea vs Brighton Review
Chelsea’s 12-game unbeaten streak in home Premier League matches was broken when Brighton came from behind to defeat 10-man Chelsea 3-1 at Stamford Bridge. Brighton, having earned only five points from their first five Premier League games this season, their worst start in six years, were seeking a boost, particularly after losing a two-goal advantage against Tottenham in their previous match. With time running out, a VAR decision favored Chelsea after Malo Gusto escaped punishment for a potentially risky clearance, but the ensuing scuffle led to no further action.
However, the hosts couldn’t hold on until full time, as Maxim De Cuyper scored his first goal for Brighton with a header, and Welbeck completed his brace following a swift counterattack in the final moments, securing all three points.
