Joao Felix: Arsenal In Pole Position To Sign Felix

Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid is one of the players that Arsenal is in the greatest position to acquire, although he may stay in Spain until the summer.

Arsenal is reportedly leading the race to sign Joao Felix in the January transfer window, according to Mundo Deportivo, although they haven’t made a firm decision about the player yet.

The two teams in line to sign Felix appear to be Arsenal and Manchester United, but neither is eager to fork up the sum demanded by Atletico Madrid for a six-month loan.

According to MD, unless everything changes, Felix is currently more likely to remain at Atletico until the summer. The La Liga team would like it since they think they can get a better deal during the summer transfer window.

Ornstein thinks that the Atletico loan cost would probably decrease, and Felix’s agent is aware that a move needs to be made even if it would just be a loan transaction and that he won’t be cheap.

“They (Arsenal) also are keen to sign Joao Felix on loan from Atletico Madrid,” Ornstein said.

“He’s been offered to a number of clubs and at the moment the numbers are too high. Manchester United, Chelsea, many others. Jorge Mendes – his agent – knows [Felix] needs to move, because he’s out of favour at Atletico Madrid.

“Arsenal are keen to do it, but the numbers would need to come down for that to happen. And I think, probably, they will.

“It would only be a six-month loan, and that’s going to be very expensive, but he is a high-quality player.”

In the meanwhile, Joao Felix keeps on competing for Atletico. On Thursday against Elche, the forward headed home the team’s first goal from close range.
