Eric Bailly is nearing a loan move away from United

A report by 90min claims that Eric Bailly is about to go on loan from Manchester United and join Olympique Marseille.

In his six years at Old Trafford, Eric Bailly has participated in just 70 Premier League games due to a number of injuries. Four of Bailly’s seven appearances in all competitions last season came in the Premier League, placing him far down United’s central defensive pecking order.

With Harry Maguire, Raphael Varane, Lisandro Martinez, and Victor Lindelof available to Erik ten Hag, it seems unlikely that Bailly will play this season. According to 90min, the 28-year-old is reportedly close to leaving United on loan, with Marseille negotiating a deal that will include a buyout option.

Bailly, who cost the Red Devils almost £30 million, was Jose Mourinho’s first signing as United manager. Before suffering an ankle injury in November 2017, when he was only making his Premier League debut, he participated in 25 games.

After then, injuries and aches have plagued Bailly despite his repeated appearances for Ivory Coast on the international scene.
