Olympiacos vs Real Madrid Review
Real Madrid secure a 4-3 victory over Olympiacos in the UEFA Champions League, which ended the Greek team’s streak of nine consecutive unbeaten home games in European competition. It was also Real Madrid’s first win in Greece after nine previous attempts. Real started strongly, with an impressive early run from Vinícius Jr. nearly resulting in a goal, his shot on target being saved by Konstantinos Tzolakis. Despite this, Olympiacos took the lead unexpectedly through a smooth passing sequence involving Daniel Podence, Ayoub El Kaabi, and Chiquinho, who finished with a low shot past Andriy Lunin.

Later, Lunin made a remarkable full-length save to deny a likely second goal for Olympiacos. As the first half continued, Kylian Mbappé found plenty of space and confidently scored the equalizer. Two minutes later, the French player headed in a goal from Arda Güler’s cross, surprising the home team. Remarkably, Mbappé completed a hat-trick in just seven minutes, the second fastest in Champions League history, before the 30-minute mark by outsmarting Olympiacos’ offside trap. Vinícius scored a brilliant goal past Tzolakis, but Mbappé was offside during the buildup.

Before halftime, Lunin made a fantastic save to deny El Kaabi, serving as a warning to the visitors. The second half started much like the first, with Real Madrid pressing forward. However, six minutes after the restart, Olympiacos substitute Santiago Hezze delivered a cross into the box, which an unmarked Mehdi Taremi converted to narrow the gap. Any hopes of a comeback were quickly ended when Vinícius skillfully dribbled past several defenders and passed to Mbappé, who scored his fourth goal of the night.

The visitors managed to score again when El Kaabi headed the ball past a stationary Lunin. Although Olympiacos ended the match as the more dominant team, it wasn’t sufficient to avoid defeat. This marked their first-ever loss in Greece against the Spanish giants, who also ended a streak of three consecutive games without a win across all competitions.
