Manchester City join the race to sign Frenkie de Jong
Manchester City‘s summer shopping list allegedly includes Frenkie de Jong, a key man in Barcelona’s midfield. It is reported that Manchester City are seeking to reinforce this summer. According to the Times, City intends to spend more money on three new players in order to win the Champions League for the first time following their recent heartbreak in the semi-final against Real Madrid.
Manchester City will lose Fernandinho this summer when his contract expires, therefore they are on the lookout for a midfielder, with De Jong appearing to be the frontrunner. According to the report, Barcelona are willing to let their key man leave for a price of around £60 million due to their massive debts.

Manchester City are also considering West Ham’s Declan Rice, who has a £150 million price tag and also a target for Manchester United. However, due to Rice’s price tag, City have rather placed Frenkie de Jong on top of their list. Erling Haaland of Borussia Dortmund is also another player City is interested in signing, as well as Julián Alvarez of River Plate.
This season has already seen a lot of talk about De Jong, and it doesn’t appear that those rumors will go away anytime soon. Both the club and the Dutchman have stated that he is content about staying at Barcelona, but Barcelona’s financial difficulties will make them consider reasonable offers for some of their key players.
