Hakim Ziyech of Chelsea is reportedly close to joining AC Milan on loan, according to a report from 90min. The Moroccan international had the option of permanently leaving Chelsea over the summer, but Milan decided against it and instead paid almost €32 million to sign Charles De Ketelaere.

However, their curiosity about Ziyech has persisted, and the former Ajax player is still a periphery player at Stamford Bridge. He has only played in nine games so far this season, and Graham Potter has only given him one start—in the Carabao Cup loss to Manchester City.

Now that Ziyech is available, Milan is prepared to step up their effort to sign him, per reports from 90min, a loan transfer to San Siro is becoming closer.

After Morocco’s World Cup opener against Croatia, Ziyech was questioned about his future, specifically a potential return to Ajax, but he wouldn’t rule out leaving Chelsea once the January transfer window opened.

“It’s hard to say,” he told NOS. “We don’t know what will happen in the winter.

“It’s football, so it’s difficult to say.”

Milan is considering Ziyech’s short-term future as they evaluate De Ketelaere’s performance at San Siro, where he has struggled to make much of an impression with just one assist in 18 games before to the World Cup.
