Erik Ten Hag Makes Admission Over Sancho’s Return

Sancho has been back in training since last Tuesday after a lengthy absence, but Erik ten Hag has announced that he won’t be available for this Wednesday’s Carabao Cup match against Nottingham Forest.

Since being replaced 52 minutes into United’s 1-1 draw with Chelsea on October 22, Sancho hasn’t appeared for the team. He was first diagnosed as being unwell just before the World Cup break, but he later missed the team’s training camp in Spain in December.

At the time, Ten Hag said that the £73 million acquisition was “not fit enough” to be included, implying that Sancho had also been having mental difficulties. He was given a personal fitness regimen to follow, and last week he returned to first-team training with his colleagues.

Unsurprisingly, Sancho was not immediately put back into the lineup for the weekend matchup with Premier League leaders Arsenal. Ten Hag has also decided that Sancho won’t yet be risked for Forest.

“All the players who were not available for Arsenal game, so [Diogo] Dalot, [Anthony] Martial, Sancho are also not available for tomorrow,” the United boss said on Tuesday.
