Galtier Opens Up On Emiliano Martinez’s Celebrations That Aimed A Dig At Mbappe

Since the 2022 FIFA World Cup Final, Emiliano Martinez, the goalie for Argentina, has made a few enemies due to his way of celebrating.

Emiliano Martinez has been making fun of Kylian Mbappe at every opportunity, from asking for a minute of “quiet” for the forward following the World Cup final to clutching a doll with a photo of the France star on it during last week’s parade.

Martinez is not given much attention by PSG manager Christophe Galtier, and in general, he just does not want the activities of the Aston Villa goalkeeper to be included in the “mix” with Messi.

“I’m not going to comment on how they celebrate,” Galtier said during a press conference on Tuesday. “What happened in the celebrations of the Argentinians is theirs. I don’t have to deal with the case of their goalkeeper. … It’s not Leo who has been badmouthing or anything. You have to leave him out of it. … There’s no reason to mix it up.

“The behavior of the goalkeeper remains his, I don’t have to comment on it.”

Emiliano Martinez did display the doll beside Messi when they stood side by side during Argentina’s World Cup parade last week. But since the World Cup final, the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner has never made fun of Mbappe.
