Jurgen Klopp has revealed that Alisson and Jota will not be available for Liverpool’s community shield fixture

Alisson and Diogo Jota won’t be available for Liverpool’s Community Shield match against Manchester City on Saturday, according to manager Jurgen Klopp. However, the goalkeeper should be ready to go for the start of the new Premier League campaign.

Alisson has missed Liverpool’s last three friendlies after suffering an abdomen injury in their first preseason game, a 4-0 loss to Manchester United in Bangkok two weeks ago. Alisson has been formally ruled out of this weekend’s match. Alisson is expected to be available for Liverpool’s first Premier League game of the season against Fulham.

“Alisson trained today more today than the day before and will definitely be available for Fulham, but not for the weekend,” Klopp said at his pre-match news conference on Thursday.

Jota has not played any of the Reds’ preseason games after suffering a recurrence of a hamstring injury. According to Jurgen Klopp, the striker is still unavailable, adding that it “will take a while” before the striker is once again available for selection.

Since Caoimhin Kelleher is also unavailable to play this weekend, Liverpool will probably start Adrian against Manchester City in the Community Shield.
