Preview
Chelsea’s first leg of the Champions League knockout stage encounter will begin at 21:00 CET when they host Lille at Standard Bridge tonight. Chelsea have won both of their previous meetings, and they are likely to win again tonight.
Chelsea have enjoyed a fantastic season after winning the FIFA Club World Cup. Prior to that Chelsea had won the Champions League with a 1-0 victory against Man City, and then the Super Cup with a penalty shootout victory over Villareal. They played great in the UCL group stages, winning four of the six games, drawing one, and losing one, for a total of 13 points. They qualified for the knockout stage after finishing second in their group, only one point behind Juventus. Chelsea will strive to repeat as champions by winning all of the stages, and tonight is no exception.
Lille are competing against the European Champions as well as the Club World Cup Champions. This puts a lot of pressure on them because they are expected to do well against their opponent. They are projected to at least draw with the Champions after losing both of their meetings with them in the 2019-20 Champions League. Lille finished top in their group with 11 points from six games.
