Inter Milan Latest News: Inter Milan will go head-to-head with Manchester City in the Champions League final on Saturday

Simone Inzaghi, the manager of Inter Milan, has shown his appreciation for Manchester City and Pep Guardiola. He also mentioned that his team would need to perform exceptionally well to win the Champions League final on Saturday.

After winning their fifth Premier League championship in six years and securing the FA Cup victory over the weekend, Guardiola has now become one of three managers, alongside Arsene Wenger and Alex Ferguson, to have won the English double more than once. He previously accomplished this feat in the 2018-19 season.

Inzaghi’s team has been in excellent form, winning 11 out of their last 12 matches in all competitions. They have also won the Coppa Italia and the Italian Super Cup, which has given them a confidence boost as they prepare to face City in the Champions League final in Istanbul.

“In modern football, there is before and after Guardiola, it will be very important for us,” Inzaghi told a press conference on Monday.

“We will have to be careful to play a team game, we know we will be facing the best, with a fantastic squad and a coach who has marked an era.”

Inzaghi stated that the upcoming game would be the most important one in his career and a fitting recognition for the club’s season, which saw them bounce back from a difficult beginning to secure third place in Serie A.

“It will be an evening that repays us for all the efforts made during the year,” he said.

“It has been a journey full of pitfalls but, in the last three months, when I have had deeper rotations to play, I think Inter have done great things.”

Inzaghi stated that his team must capitalize on any chances they get in order to win the tournament, as City is considered the favorite. This would be their first final since 2010.

“The more you see it, the more you understand why they are getting these results, they’re a complete team, physical, technical, playing great football, doing great possession and great attacking,” he said.

“They have few weak points… we know we will have to be good at taking away some of their possession and covering every inch of the pitch. They are really good at covering spaces.”
