Javier Tebas attended a conference in Porto and spoke about football business
When talking about the business of football, La Liga president Javier Tebas once again didn’t hesitate to take a blow at Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain.
Javier Tebas was giving a speech in Porto during a gathering. During the event, he specifically criticized PSG before being critical of the Superleague and Florentino Perez, the president of Real Madrid.
Tebas said that if football depends on state-owned clubs, it will ruin teams who wish to remain a lucrative company. He used the French giants and Manchester City as examples.

“If we rely on tycoons and state clubs like PSG or Manchester City, we destroy clubs that want a profitable business,” Tebas said (h/t Paris Fans). “To defend the jobs we create, we must have a profitable business.”
Additionally, Javier Tebas didn’t limit his criticism to Manchester City and PSG, the typical suspects he doesn’t think twice to take aim at when the chance arises. The Super League was a point of contention for the La Liga president.
“Those clubs that founded the European Superleague want to rule football because they have the most assets, but all of that would be completely dysfunctional for the sport,” Tebas added. “Real Madrid president says he will protect football, but we are fine and we don’t want him to protect us.”
In a few months, Tebas will bring up similar topics once more since it is now his catchphrase, in which he singles out specific teams and blames them for everything that is wrong with football.
