Bundesliga Roundup, Matchday 15
The 15th matchday of the 2025/26 Bundesliga season featured exciting games and outstanding performances. Here is an overview of this Bundesliga round.
Dortmund 2-0 Monchengladbach
Borussia Dortmund solidified their spot in the Bundesliga’s top four with a 2-0 victory against Borussia Mönchengladbach. This marked their 13th consecutive home win against the Foals and extended their unbeaten streak at the Westfalenstadion to 11 league games. Although Gladbach’s performance has declined following an impressive November, their four-point cushion above the relegation zone ensures they will remain outside it throughout the winter.

Wolfsburg 3-4 Freiburg
Dženan Pejčinović’s first goalscoring appearance in the Bundesliga was a mixed experience, as he became part of a rare group of players who scored a hat-trick but still ended up on the losing team. SC Freiburg secured a 4-3 win against VfL Wolfsburg at the Volkswagen Arena, marking their fourth win in the last five matches there. This victory also moved Freiburg into the top half of the table, following their first away Bundesliga win in six games.

Stuttgart 0-0 Hoffemheim
VfB Stuttgart and TSG Hoffenheim remained deadlocked for the seventh time in their last 12 head-to-head matches, as the two teams competing for UEFA Champions League spots ended in a 0-0 draw in the Bundesliga at the MHP Arena. Hoffenheim are currently just 2 points shy of the top four, but they have now gone without a win in their last two Bundesliga away games.
Hamburger SV 1-1 Frankfurt
Hamburger SV extended their unbeaten streak at home in the Bundesliga to four matches with a 1-1 draw against Eintracht Frankfurt. Frankfurt have only managed to win one of their last eight competitive away games (drawing four and losing three). They have work to do in January in order to stay in both European competitions and the Bundesliga’s top-six race.
FC Cologne 0-1 Union Berlin
Union Berlin scored late to clinch a 1-0 win against Cologne at the RheinEnergieStadion, leaving the Billy Goats as the only Bundesliga team without a Saturday victory this season. This win moves Union up to eighth place in the league, just five points behind sixth, while Cologne falls to 11th in the rankings.

Augsburg 0-0 Werder Bremen
Werder Bremen’s streak without a win in the Bundesliga has reached five games following a 0-0 draw against Augsburg. The home team’s inefficiency kept them only 2 points above the relegation zone. Bremen will likely be somewhat satisfied with earning a point away from home and keeping a clean sheet, especially after having conceded seven goals in their last two league matches.
RB Leipzig 1-3 Leverkusen
Bayer Leverkusen climbed above RB Leipzig to secure third place in the Bundesliga table by overcoming an early deficit to win 3-1 at the Red Bull Arena. This win ended Leipzig’s run of scoring at least two goals in nine straight home games across all competitions. Consequently, the Red Bulls now have only a two-point advantage over Hoffenheim in a closely fought race for a top-four spot.

Mainz 0-0 St Pauli
FSV Mainz 05 and St. Pauli continue to struggle in the Bundesliga relegation fight after a dull 0-0 draw at the Mewa Arena. This result leaves Mainz with only one league victory this season (5 draws, 9 losses). Mainz’s situation is even more precarious, but they remain hopeful that new coach Urs Fischer will receive support from the club’s owners in January.
Heidenheim 0-4 Bayern Munich
In the last match of the 2025 Bundesliga season, league leaders Bayern Munich secured an easy 4-0 win against Heidenheim. Heidenheim will be in an automatic relegation position during the winter break and remain the only Bundesliga team yet to keep a clean sheet. However, with just three points away from automatic safety and having won two of their last four league games, Schmidt is optimistic that the team can prolong their Bundesliga tenure into a fourth season.
